Bloggers Breaking the Law?

I found this interesting.

Apparently, two teenage bloggers from France and Germany are being investigated for helping incite the riots currently going on. I’m interested in seeing what type of effect it will have on the blogging community if these two are charged with anything.

  1. That’s a good point. I read the article and I have to wonder about it all. If they are charged, is there a way to regulate blogging that would actually work. It travels across borders so it would seem hard to nail down any kind of law.

  2. I believe it was Rwanda where for the first time a journalist was convicted by the UN War Crimes Tribunal for a crime against humanity. The reporter used his radio station to incite the ethnic strife telling his listeners to kill at will. The reporter actually gave out the physical street addresses of the would-be victims.

I really do not see any difference here, if you’re in control of a popular medium you have a certain responsibility. Of course inciting the murders of 1000s of people in one thing, these individuals still were calling for violence.
