I started a blog

I finally started a blog. I am using Blogger and I hate it. It doesn’t have any built in trackback functionality. It also doesn’t have any built in tagging. I am sure I can figure it out, but you would think in this day and age these features would be a given. I can’t really complain though because I am to lazy to try anything else. I added it to the links to the right and added some posts. If interested, you can find it here:

I went to the National Newspaper Association Convention in Milwaukee this weekend, for newspapers with less than 50,000 circulation. At a session (where I was by far the youngest person in the room), one woman’s topic was blogs and the newspaper veterans in the audience had quite a few concerns. Their biggest concern wasn’t who would monitor or lead blogs on their websites, but who would take the blame in cases such as libel. They said maybe BIG MEDIA can deal with lawsuits, but we certainly can’t. The woman who presented the paper answered that the courts are still figuring out how to deal with this new medium. The funny thing is, the courts are still trying to figure out print media. I thought their conerns were legit, though, and wondered what the class thought.
